NFP couples do give a complete gift of self with every act of marital love. They give themselves as God made them, and it is by God's design that women are only fertile at one part of their cycle. Whether they are hoping to conceive (and come together during the fertile time), or hoping to postpone (and wait for the infertile time), in both cases they are giving completely of themselves as they were created.

Those who contracept alter they way God designed them, either through a drug or device or surgery. They give an incomplete gift of self.

Even the Catholic Church acknowledges that couples have the right to discern their family size according to their circumstances (although always encouraging a generous spirit), so wanting to postpone the next pregnancy is not wrong. The Church teaches we should not assault our God-given dignity by making ourselves less than we are in order to do that.

Natural planning is basically counting the calendar days when a woman is not fertile. (you basically have sex without the use of artificial methods or stopping prior to achieving the full union)

I've been married 15 years. Never used contraception, always used the calendar method (and enjoyed it :P). All 3 children were planned

Its not because the church says its not. That's how most illogical religious proclamations work.

It's just a nicer way of packaging the same idea. Don't spend too much time worrying about it; sex is a biological function, nothing more. Let your freak flag fly.

Because you're still doing it anyway...even if you're "waiting" to give all your love.

Perhaps it reduces the chances of a baby being born, but I have a friend whose wife was told by the doctors that she could never have children. They now have two beautiful little girls.

It's less effective. Everyone I know who ever tried that 'method' has a litter now.
